Moonbug to launch new Morphle and the Magic Pets series

Published on: 22nd February 2024

The new Morphle and the Magic Pets series, set to debut on the Disney Junior and Disney+ channels this March, is an improved and extended version of the original YouTube series.

Moonbug Entertainment, a subsidiary of Candle Media, along with Disney Branded Television, will debut a new CGI original series, Morphle and the Magic Pets, on Disney Junior and Disney+ starting Wednesday, 20th March. The series will include 52 x 7-minute episodes and 50 x 3-minute shorts. This series is an evolution from the original YouTube series and features a brand-new, premium look and more in-depth storytelling. Following its premiere in the US, the series will start rolling out globally (excluding China) on Disney+ and Disney Junior at a later date.

Morphle and the Magic Pets follows Mila and her stepbrother, Jordie, as they leap into a world of adventure with the help of Morphle, Mila’s magical and loyal pet who has the power to morph into whatever she imagines.

Olivia Chausson, general manager of Morphle at Moonbug Entertainment said: “We are very excited to expand Morphle’s fantastical world in close partnership with Disney. We have big aspirations for the franchise, fueled by Morphle’s transformational powers and the richness of the magic pet universe. This year we are supercharging growth across new audience touchpoints, and are delighted to share Morphle and the Magic Pets with families across the globe.”

Alyssa Sapire, senior vice president, Development, Series and Strategy at Disney Junior, said: “We are always looking for new ways to connect with our young audience of preschoolers and their families. We knew Morphle was already a big hit on YouTube with our core audience of kids 3-5 and were thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the Moonbug team to build out the world and characters.”

Morphle and the Magic Pets originated as a short-form three-minute YouTube series, Morphle. The new expanded series for Disney allows the pets to have bigger personalities so kids can build a relationship and embark on more in-depth creative adventures.

Originally created by Arthur van Merwijk (My Magic Pet Morphle), the new series has been co-developed by Mark Palmer and consulting producer Jill Sanford, while Nick Confalone serves as story editor.
