Character World Brands sees significant growth in 2023

Published on: 19th October 2023

Character World Brands (CWB) has announced a 19% growth in its UK business this year as Danny and Mark Schweiger step into non-executive roles.

Following a challenging year in the retail and licensing landscape CWB is pleased to report the UK business has grown +19% and is set for further growth through 2024.

CEO James Walker commented: “This year has been a year of turnaround, seeing us re-frame our business for growth whilst navigating the challenging economics within the UK and European markets. We have seen significant growth in the UK and are confident this will continue through next year. Whilst Europe has had a challenging 18 months, retail is starting to return to normal and we foresee growth in 2024.”

Over the past 18 months the CWB team has been executing its new strategy and part of this has included a transition within the leadership team. In a joint statement, Danny and Mark Schweiger said: “We could not be more proud of the CWB team and how the business has pivoted in these turbulent and uncertain times. The leadership team, alongside the wider team, is in good shape and now is the right time for us both to move to non-executive roles at CWB. We will continue to support James and the team on key growth initiatives and look forward to our own new projects within business, investment and mentoring.”

They added: “Being the recipients of this year’s Licensing Award for lifetime achievement was such an honour for us both; as well as celebrating our 25th anniversary of CWB, the timing feels perfect. We look forward to continuing to be part of this fantastic industry in new ways for many years to come.”
