The July issue of Toy World is out now

Published on: 29th June 2023

The 124-page July issue of Toy World magazine, which contains the latest and most relevant news from across the toy industry is available to read in print and online.

Landing on desks and doormats bang on schedule – just in time for the start of its designated publication month – the July issue of Toy World is out now.

This issue contains a wealth of information pertinent to UK toy retailers, buyers and manufacturers. Our comprehensive category features this month cover Tech Toys, Construction Toys, Stationery, and Dress-Up & Role Play, and are bolstered by expert opinion and insight from leading manufacturers including Lego, Connetix, Blue Sky, Rubies UK, Bandai and many more. Our article on the Stationery category also looks at how licensing is driving the space.

John Baulch caught up with Sanjay Luthra, Mattel’s executive vice president and managing director EMEA, to hear how Mattel EMEA will be delivering its largest-ever campaign of retail activations in the UK and EMEA to coincide with the launch of the Barbie movie in July.

Toy World caught up with Paul Reader, chair of the DreamToys selection committee, and Natasha Crookes, director general of the Toy Retailers Association, to find out more about this year’s major changes to the format of DreamToys, from the venue to the final selections. Assistant editor Marianna Casal also interviewed a selection of Toy World advertisers to get the latest on their business plans for the year: find out what Reydon Sports, Commotion Distribution and Funko Games had to say in this issue.

And last but by no means least, Passionate toy retailers and unlikely friends Dave Middleton (Midco Toymaster, Midco Toy Planet and Freak Treats) and Rick Derr (Learning Express Lake Zurich) sat down with Rachael Simpson-Jones to compare and contrast the Toymaster May show and the American ASTRA Marketplace & Academy events – and what they’ve learned about the US and UK toy markets following the completion of their latest ‘exchange programme’.

If all that isn’t enough, we also bring you a raft of new product launches in Fresh, the latest company, marketing and appointment news, fascinating columns from the likes of Circana, Toy Barnhaus and Generation Media, and our popular retailer feature, Talking Shop.
