Published on: 30th July 2023

Brand Licensing Europe is just four weeks away, from 4th-6th October: if you haven’t already started booking business-critical meetings with brands, there’s no better time than now.

Retailers and manufacturers from all over Europe have already arranged thousands of meetings with exhibitors through BLE’s Meetings Platform, where registered visitors can find the show’s exhibitor list, brand directory and conference agenda.

Over 200 exhibitors and thousands of brands

More than 200 exhibiting companies will be at BLE, bringing thousands upon thousands of partner-ready brands with them, with which attendees can create the next generation of best-selling consumer products that fans will adore.

Brands on show include Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, Nadiya Hussain, Sarah & Duck, Gigantosaurus, Ed Hardy, Beryl Cook, International Space Archives, Moomin, The Little Prince, Farah, Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, Febreze, The Smurfs, Frida Kahlo, Bentley Motors, and English Heritage, to name a few.

Exhibiting companies, meanwhile, include Hasbro, The Pokémon Company, Bandai Namco, BBC Studios, Cyber Group Studios, MGA Entertainment and Miffy, as well as over 35 first timers such as Naru Naru, Leo the Truck and HARI International.

Traitors to make BLE debut

All3Media International is coming back to the showfloor after debuting last year. The distribution arm of the All3Media Group, it houses over 50 television producers including global format phenomenon The Traitors, which will have a major presence at BLE this year.

After deciding to be proactive in its licensing activities, the team is attending BLE to build new relationships and catch up with valued partners.

“Apart from the obvious revenue benefits that licensing deals bring to our business, we appreciate being able to serve the loyal followers of our brands,” said Nick Smith, EVP Formats and Licensing at All3Media International. “As a global business, our IP has wide-reaching international appeal and BLE is a brilliant platform to showcase this content. The internationally recognised, iconic brands in our catalogue have translated brilliantly for off-screen licensing, from buzzy new brands like The Traitors to iconic titles such as Catchphrase and Midsomer Murders. Additionally, we are always looking to develop and expand brand growth and awareness which licensing opportunities offer the perfect chance for.”

Since launching in the Netherlands in 2021, The Traitors has proved its international appeal on and off screen with over 25 adaptations, including a BAFTA wining version in the UK for BBC and Emmy-nominated version in the US for NBC, and ancillary activation.

Nick adds: “We’re thrilled to have secured a publishing deal with Penguin Random House to tie in with the BBC’s version, and board and card game deals in in various European territories with partners Vivid, Egmont, Ginger Fox and Identity Games. And there are plenty of other deals in discussion for a wide scope of ancillary content.”

Visitors to the All3Media stand will also be able to hear more about Sort Your Life Out, which will be at BLE for the first time, Midsomer Murders – a fan favourite – and Britain’s longest running detective drama, plus Lingo and Catchphrase.

Rebel, Rebel

First time exhibitor, video game studio Rebellion, is the custodian and rights holder for a huge number of IPs across the history of video games and British comics.

Alongside the legendary 2000 AD, featuring Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper, the company owns iconic British comics characters like Roy of the Rovers, the original action detective Sexton Blake, supervillain-turned-hero The Spider, the Sniper Elite and Zombie Army game franchises, the classic Bitmap Brothers titles and many, many more.

Lewis Anderson, Consumer Products & E-Commerce manager, said: “Our aim is to preserve the legacy of these great licences: to see them bought to life in exciting ways and to reach new audiences, particularly in the realms of consumer products, merchandise and experiential partnerships. That’s why we are looking to meet with companies at BLE who share our love and vision for our IP to discuss possible partnerships and opportunities.”

Licensing.biz readers are invited to register for a free pass to BLE and discover thousands of new brands at www.brandlicensing.eu – the event takes place 4th-6th October 2023 a Excel, London.
