Breaking News: London Underground strikes called off ahead of BLE

Published on: 3rd October 2023

With Brand Licensing Europe 2023 due to open its doors tomorrow (4th October), exhibitors and attendees alike will be delighted to hear the London Underground strikes have been called off.

News has broken that the planned London Underground tube strikes have been called off on Wednesday 4th October and Friday 6th October. This means all service is expected to resume as normal throughout London, as Brand Licensing Europe gets underway at London Excel.

Given the late timing of this decision, BLE’s organiser has confirmed that the announced measures will remain in place to accommodate to adjusted meeting times. The event hours will remain:

  • Wednesday 4th October: 9am-6pm (optional additional hour between 5-6pm for meetings)
  • Thursday 5th October: 8am-7pm (optional additional hours between 8-9am and 5-7pm for meetings)
  • Friday 6th October: 9am-3pm (earlier close to allow attendees and exhibitors maximum time for their onward journeys due to expected travel disruption)

There will also be an additional drinks reception on the BLE show floor – these will take place from 5-7pm on 4th and 5th October. The receptions are free to attend for all attendees and exhibitors.

The UK National Rail strikes are still scheduled to go ahead on Wednesday 4th October so visitors are advised to plan their journey if they are travelling into London for Brand Licensing Europe. However, there are no planned disruptions on Thursday 5th October and Friday 6th October.

“We are delighted with this latest development and look forward to welcoming everyone to BLE tomorrow for what is preparing to be a successful event,” says Anna Knight, SVP Licensing at Informa Markets. “Exhibitors are putting the final touches on their stands, the show floor is looking great and we are excited to share that the event can resume with minimal disruption.”
