Warner Bros. Discovery presents Bugs Bunny at the Symphony

Published on: 20th July 2023

Premiering in Rome, Bugs Bunny and other classic Looney Tunes characters will be projected onto the big screen and their original scores played by a live orchestra.

On Saturday, 30th September (at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.) and Sunday, 1st October (at 3 p.m.) at the Auditorium Conciliazione, Bugs Bunny at the Symphony will open the second Roma Film Music Festival with a showcase of the most iconic and beloved Looney Tunes from Warner Bros. Discovery.

The classic animated shorts will be projected on the big screen, with the original scores performed in perfect synchronization. The iconic Carl Stalling and Milt Franklyn scores will be performed by the Orchestra Italiana del Cinema, conducted by Maestro George Daugherty.

This unique “cine-concert,” has been acclaimed by audiences and critics alike internationally, and has sold out for three decades with the world’s greatest orchestras and at the world’s greatest concert halls, ranging from The Hollywood Bowl to The New York Philharmonic, The Royal Philharmonic to The Sydney Opera House. This exciting combination of animation and music is now being celebrated with a new 30th anniversary edition.

Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies are one of the studio’s major flagships, originally produced by Warner Bros. to be seen before every Warner Bros. feature film from 1930 to the 1960s. This is why the adventures of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd (Taddeo), Porky Pig, Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner (Beep-Beep), Michigan J. Frog, Sylvester and Tweety (Titti), and so many other characters were created to be accompanied by the spectacular music of Stalling and  Franklyn, inspired by a host of golden age composers.

The concert debut in Rome takes place during the 100th Anniversary and centennial year of Warner Bros, in which global festivities all over the world will celebrate Warner Bros. Studio’s unparalleled century of storytelling, music, technical innovation and more.

This special infusion of classical music, operas, and hilarious 20th Century tunes  – performed live by the 70-plus musicians of the Orchestra Italiana del Cinema –  creates a unique and beloved experience for audiences of all ages and all generations, and provides the perfect first symphony orchestra experience for children, while their parents revel in memories from their own childhoods, watching these unforgettable cartoons on Saturday morning television.

Tickets are on sale from June 21st, here.
