The July issue of Toy World is out now

Published on: 1st July 2024

The print version of the 124-page July issue of Toy World contains the latest and most relevant news from across the toy industry, including an exclusive look at Deadpool & Wolverine and a profile with Casdon about its partnership with Ooni.

The July issue of Toy World is available to read in print and online now, as the team gets to work on the upcoming August edition of the UK’s leading trade magazine for the Toys & Games industry.

John Baulch and Rachael Simpson-Jones, as well as assistant editors Caroline Tonks and Gabriela Garcia, attended the Toymaster May Show in Harrogate. More than 100 leading toy suppliers and independent retailers spent three busy days networking and placing orders for the rest of the year, and enjoyed evenings of food, dancing and drinks, with the musical accompaniment of the Toy Division on night one. In this issue, we report back on the event and bring readers a bumper Talking Shop featuring retailers who attended the show.

John also visited the Diaframma studio in Florence, Italy, where he was able to go behind-the-scenes of creating a commercial. When the company first started, there was only one commercial TV channel in many countries, and the opportunities for advertising were relatively limited. In 2024, there are more platforms fighting for kids’ attention than ever before, giving toy companies far more opportunities to showcase their new launches. This has caused Diaframma to evolve, establishing itself as an expert in making ads for toy companies.

There’s also insight from Disney on why the toy industry should be excited about the upcoming Deadpool movie this July. Deadpool & Wolverine, the third instalment in Marvel’s X-rated superhero franchise about the red-suited, potty mouthed anti-hero, arrives in cinemas at the end of this month.

Tying in with our Dress Up & Role Play feature, we caught up with Casdon’s marketing manager, Simone Inskip, and Ooni Pizza Oven’s senior project manager, Claire Grant, who shared their insights into their latest partnership, how it came about and why retailers should consider stocking this new role-play range.

On top of Dress Up & Role Play, we’ve also got category features on Construction Toys, Tech Toys and Stationery, bolstered by comments from a raft of industry experts, as well as all the latest product information on the new launches coming through in the following months.

Popular regular contributors including Circana, Generation Media, Toy Barnhaus and Learning Express’ Rick Derr return with fresh perspectives on our ever-evolving industry, including the contribution of sports-related toy sales on the UK market, embracing the digital evolution of the toy industry and mid-year trade shows and their value.
