Universal Music Group secures new partnership with Africa’s Boomplay

Boomplay, Africa’s music streaming and download platform has secured a partnership with Universal Music Group to cover multiple markets across the continent.

UMG is the first major music company to license its catalogue to Boomplay, a platform that has quickly established itself as the most popular streaming service in Africa. Boomplay will now distribute music from UMG’s labels through its platform.

The catalogue will be available across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia. Boomplay currently provides more than two million songs and thousands of music videos to more than 36 million users, with nearly two million new users added each month.

Eminem, Tekno, Post Malone, Nicki Minaj, Lady Zamar, Lil Wayne, Bob Marley, Lady Gaga, Maroon 5 and many more artists will now be available via the platform.

Boomplay will now continue to forge partnerships to “enrich the digital ecosystem and connects music lovers with their favourite songs anytime and anywhere.”
