UK CP launch for Matt Hatter Chronicles set for autumn

The official UK consumer retail launch of Platinum Films’ Matt Hatter Chronicles will take place this autumn, ITV Studios Global Entertainment has confirmed.

All of the major licensing categories are covered, with 17 UK partners on board, as well as confirmed retail listings in place with all the key retailers.

Global partners preparing for the retail debut include Simba Dickie, which is the master toy licensee across UK, EMEA, CEE, Russia and India).

In the publishing category, Penguin is on board for books and Pedigree for annuals, while apparel partners poised for launch in the UK include Smith and Brooks for boys fashion and TDP Aykroyd for nightwear and underwear. The toy category is further bolstered by Tactic Games for puzzles and Hy-Pro with its range of wheeled toys.

Gifting and stationery lines will be developed by GB eye and London Europe respectively.

New partners continue to come on board for phase two of the retail roll out in 2015. London Europe will debut a range of homewares including lunchboxes and drink bottles from spring 2015, while Hall & Associates has signed up for personal care with product rolling out from January 2015 onwards.

Joining these partners for 2015 launch is Trademark Collections and VMC for bags and fashion accessories respectively, University Games for games, Character World for junior bedding sets and home accessories, Topps for trading cards and Titan for the official Matt Hatter Chronicles Magazine.

"After almost two years in the planning, we’re very excited that Matt Hatter Chronicles is about to unfold at UK retail," said Trudi Hayward, SVP head of global merchandising, ITVS GE. "We’ve taken a considered approach to building the licensing programme, allowing the show time to establish a loyal fan base and ourselves space to form partnerships with the licensees, who have a true understanding of this property.

"UK broadcast ratings are strong and consumer deman for official merchandise is rising, as the signing of our two new UK partners demonstrates."

Hayward continued: "Our ambition is to establish Matt Hatter as a ‘beacon brand’ in the UK for years to come, creating strength and depth of product at retail and building on the momentum that the Matt Hatter brand has built on TV over the last two years.

"Platinum and ITVS GE are dedicated to supporting products going into store this autumn with retail and marketing promotions, so that Matt Hatter enters 2015 as a retail success story and a brand with real potential to impact the licensed boys market."
