Sprayground partners with Hershey’s for sweet fashion collab

Sprayground, the streetwear brand known for its artistically designed backpacks, accessories and apparel, is teaming up with America’s number one chocolate brand, Hershey’s, to create a mouthwatering crossover set to delight those who have a sweet tooth for chocolate and an eye for fashion.

Known for collaborations with notable celebrities and companies, including Marvel, Nickelodeon, Star Wars, Spike Lee and Shaquille O’Neal, Sprayground will be introducing a hyper-realistic backpack that features an augmented-reality Hershey’s chocolate bar, featuring the iconic Hershey’s chocolate bar “pips”, as well as Sprayground’s iconic shark bite that fans know and love.

Sprayground has integrated functionality into the backpack design with designated partitions for USB sticks, wires, cables and a laptop, a velour pouch  and zippered compartments.

Founder and Creative Director of Sprayground, David BenDavid, says: “The Sprayground and Hershey’s collection is the perfect pairing of style and sweetness. Bringing our iconic brands to life beyond the chocolate shop and into the world of streetwear is an exciting way to connect with our fashion-forward customers who like to think outside of the box!”

“Expanding Hershey’s beyond the candy aisle and into fashion creates a unique opportunity to connect chocolate lovers and fashion seekers nationwide,” adds Ernie Savo, Senior Director, Licensing, The Hershey Company. “Partnering with David and the team at Sprayground to create a mouthwatering, almost edible Hershey’s backpack confirms that this will be a must-have accessory of the summer.”

The collection will be available from April 15 at www.sprayground.com and exclusive U.S. stores nationwide, including Hershey’s Chocolate World.

US streetwear brand FLAN teams with The Laughing Cow for capsule collection

In a deal brokered by Design Plus Licensing, streetwear brand FLAN has linked up with the iconic cheese snack brand The Laughing Cow to launch a football-themed capsule collection for the US market.

FLAN x The Laughing Cow continues FLAN’s tradition of mixing fresh, funky colours with cosy materials, and playing with themes and textures. The collection comprises give t-shirts, a vinyl hoodie, shorts and pants, fleece sweatpants and a polo jersey, all crafted from 100% organic fabrics.

The FLAN logo appears inside the ear tags of The Laughing Cow logotype insignia. Drawing inspiration from the familiar cheese packaging, blue diagonal stripes make a design statement throughout the capsule. Using 100% sustainable fabrics, the result is a half-cosy, half-sporty assortment highlighted by a soccer kit with the number 100 as a nod to The Laughing Cow’s 100th birthday.

FLAN Founder Jared Vinik says: “The Laughing Cow is an icon of the snack world, a globally recognised brand. Both familiar and nostalgic, so many of us grew up eating their cheese snacks and still do. It is an honour to collaborate on a capsule for their 100th birthday. At FLAN, if we are not eating we are laughing, so this collection really exemplifies why we do this.”

BEL SA Head of Licensing Patrick Tamburlin adds: “Thanks to Design Plus for brokering this exciting deal. I am impressed with The Laughing Cow x FLAN apparel range and FLAN’s creative interpretation of our band. It’s an astonishingly exciting collab to finish the year – the perfect Christmas gift!”

Price points ranging from $70 for t-shirts to $200 for a hoodie. The collection is available to purchase online via www.flanlabs.com only, from Friday 10 December.

Rovio and Billebeino team up for limited-edition Angry Birds capsule collection

There’s a new bird in town! Two Finnish companies – Rovio Entertainment and lifestyle brand Billebeino – have collaborated on a new limited-edition Angry Birds capsule collection, in a deal brokered by IMG. The line features Rovio’s iconic Angry Birds characters and a new exclusive character, Bille Bird, based on Billebeino founder and former NHL player Ville Leino. The limited-edition garments land in select retailers and in the Billebeino online store today.

The collection will include unisex casual wear and accessories for adults and children. The garments feature designs that combine the iconic Angry Birds characters with the minimalist and instantly recognisable logo and typeface styles that Billebeino has come to be known for. Bille Bird will appear in graphical placements that play on the fun and destructive nature of the Angry Birds, with kids’ designs incorporating the destructible materials that appear in every Angry Birds game.

Billebeino was founded in 2014 by former NHL player, Ville Leino, whose passion for sports and expression through art came together to inspire the brand. Today, Billebeino specialises in casual wear, all featuring Ville Leino’s designs.

“With Billebeino, we’ve found a partner that’s just as adventurous and fun as Angry Birds,” says Katri Chacona, Director of Licensing at Rovio. “Each brand brings its own unique design approach and offbeat sense of humour into the mix, resulting in a stylish new line that truly stands out from the rest.”

Commenting on the inspiration for the capsule collection, Billebeino founder Ville Leino says: “We wanted this collection to be playful and fun. We used a lot of colours and art on designs so we could get the whole family excited about the collection. It was very inspirational working with an international Finnish company. The most unique thing was designing our own character in the style of the legendary Angry Birds games. For an extra touch, we created a limited-edition Bille Bird plushie and choreographed a Bille Bird dance in cooperation with local dance school, DCA. We hope this collaboration inspires people to move, dance and enjoy life.”
