Licensing experts assemble for special London Book Fair online insights seminar next week

The former marketing manager of Licensing International UK and CEO of Imaginators.tv, Ryan Beaird will be chairing a panel of licensing experts during the London Book Fair’s online insights seminar later this month.

The basics of licensing seminar will be aimed at the show’s audience of publishers looking to get into licensing, or authors wanting to better understand how the licensing industry operates and how they can build a brand from their works.

Scheduled to take place on June, 22nd from 13.25, the hour long session will hear from Beaird as he shares insights from his seven years experience running the UK office of the licensing industry association, Licensing International UK. He will be joined by Thomas Merrington, creative director of Penguin Ventures who will talk about Peter Rabbit and the brand’s live exhibitions.

Following the presentations, there will be a live Q&A session with panellists including Merrington, Rob Wijeratna, joint MD of Rocket Licensing, Rebecca French, head of licensing at the Roald Dahl company, and Lauren Sizeland, director of licensing of the V&A, who will talk audiences through the V&A’s Alice in Wonderland exhibitions as well as its award winning shop.

Roald Dahl and Natural History Museum partner to launch Extraordinary Explorers clothing range with M&S

The collaborative efforts of The Natural History Museum and the Roald Dahl Story Company have finally come together, as this week witnesses the launch of a new children’s clothing collection exclusively with Marks & Spencer.

Called Extraordinary Explorers, the collection feature 24 pieces, each made from 100 per cent sustainably sourced cotton and targeting children aged from two to seven.

The range landed in stores and online this week and is a “playful edit of daywear designs” featuring some of the best-loved Roald Dahl characters, as well as animal facts from the scientists at The Natural History Museum.

Among the illustrations in the special spring/summer range are characters from well-known stories like Fantastic Mr Fox, The Enormous Crocodile, The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me, and James and the Giant Peach.

It includes matching sweatshirt and jogger sets, t-shirts, shorts, and day dresses.

A spokesperson from Marks and Spencers, said: “We’ve had a lot of fun designing this collection in collaboration with the teams at Roald Dahl and the Natural History Museum. We want to continue to appeal to our customers and their little ones through stylish daywear and exciting design, all at great value.

“The Roald Dahl characters are so well-loved by children and parents alike, and so we hope that this collection allows them to have some fun with their wardrobe while learning something too.”

Wild + Wolf lands Roald Dahl partnership for Petit Collage games, puzzles, and more

The award-winning gifting company Wild + Wolf has landed a new partnership with The Roald Dahl Story Company to develop a range of licensed puzzles, board games, card games, and more.

The range will become part of the firm’s toy and game offering under its Petit Collage brand and will feature some of Quentin Blake’s best-loved illustrations while embodying the literary icon, Dahl’s irreverent and imaginative storytelling.

Under the deal Wild + Wolf’s Petit Collage will distribute the range across the UK, Eire, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and Europe.

The properties that the license covers includes Matilda, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, The BFG, James & The Giant Peach, The Enormous Crocodile, The Witches and Fantastic Mr. Fox.

The initial collection will launch in AW20 and will include the Roald Dahl Trivia Quiz Set, the Roald Dahl Magnetic Squibbling Board, the Roald Dahl Storytelling Dice Game, a Roald Dahl ‘What Is It?’ Game, Roald Dahl Golden Ticket Memory Game, James and the Giant Peach Snap, Matilda Hook A Book Card Game, Roald Dahl Biffsquiggled Card Game, James and the Giant Peach Keepsake Book Puzzle (100pc), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Keepsake Book Puzzle (100pc), Matilda Keepsake Book Puzzle (100pc), BFG Keepsake Book Puzzle (100pc), and the Double-sided Puzzle in Keepsake Pouch (100pc).
