Brave Bunnies launches UK publishing with Ladybird

Ladybird is launching a series of pre-school titles with Brave Bunnies, the global Ukrainian children’s brand. Ladybird Commissioning Editor Ned Hartley acquired UK publishing rights to the brand from Big Picture Licensing, who are the master-agent for Brave Bunnies across EMEA & APAC regions.

Dan Frugtniet, MD of Big Picture Licensing, says: “It’s wonderful to have found a UK publishing home for Brave Bunnies with such a global leader as Ladybird & Penguin Random House. Given the terrible current events in Ukraine, the creators are keen to use Brave Bunnies to spread the important messages of friendship, diversity and inclusion which are the core DNA of the show.”

Brave Bunnies follows the adventures of bunnies Bop and Boo, who live with their family on the Bunny Bus and love to explore the world. At each stop, Bop and Boo make new friends, play new games and discovering a little more about the world and people around them, spreading messages of inclusivity, friendship and respect.

Created by Olga Cherepanova at Glowberry, Brave Bunnies is broadcast in over 63 countries. It launched in the UK on Milkshake! (on Channel 5) and Nick Jr. in February and September 2021 respectively. To date it has reached a UK audience of 4.4million. Brave Bunnies ranked as the #1 commercial channel in its slots for its premiere.

Ladybird launches the first two titles in the series in March 2022: Brave Bunnies Spring to the Rescue and Brave Bunnies Make a Friend, which see Bop and Boo learning lessons about bravery, responsibility and compassion.

Francesca Dow, MD of Penguin Random House Children’s, says: “This partnership is exciting for Ladybird because it is the result of several years of collaboration with the exceptionally skilled and creative team at Glowberry. We were first drawn to Brave Bunnies for its playful and warm ways of talking about friendship with a very young audience, and are excited that our books are now available for young readers to explore, bringing the internationally successful Brave Bunnies to existing and new fans in the UK.”

Four new licensing partners for BRAVE BUNNIES

Glowberry, creator of the popular preschool animation series BRAVE BUNNIES, and Big Picture Licensing (BPL), its exclusive licensing agent for UK & Eire and master-agent across EMEA and APAC, plus Centa IP, the licensing agent for ANZ region, have signed agreements with four new partners for a range of products that will expand the offerings for the hit kids’ brand.

Dan Frugtniet, MD at Big Picture Licensing, says: “Big Picture Licensing is very proud to have been working with BRAVE BUNNIES for the last two years… to appoint key strategic partners, licensing agents and new licensees around the world for this beautiful preschool property.

“Our first-wave licensees include Spin Master, Penguin Random House and DeAgostini/Planeta Libra; they are all aligned and launching their products in 2021-22, and now PMI, Roy Lowe & Sons, Five Mile Press and Caprice are all aboard the Bunny Bus for launch in 2022 across Global, UK and Australia/NZ respectively. We are thrilled to welcome to them to the BRAVE BUNNIES family!”

BRAVE BUNNIES, created by Glowberry in coproduction with the leading animation studio Anima, tells the story of the curious and courageous Brave Bunnies Family. They go on a BIG Journey to explore the diverse world around them and find new friends. A unique aspect of the show is its focus on helping children with their first socialization through various games. It also teaches kids to accept the differences of others and be courageous in exploring the world around them.

Big Picture Licensing named UK and Eire licensing agent for Brave Bunnies as portfolio plans get underway

Big Picture Licensing has been appointed the exclusive licensing agent for the UK and Eire, and master agent across EMEA and APAC for the animated pre-school series Brave Bunnies.

Created and developed by the Ukrainian creative production hub, Glowberry, the new series aims to blend the traditional feel of a pre-school property with modern and relevant themes of diversity and inclusivity. It follows the adventures of two brave and curious bunnies who journey through their world on the Bunny Bus in search of new friends.

52 episodes make up season one that, thanks to a partnership with Aardman as global content distributor, has already been placed with the likes of Milkshake and Nick Jr in the UK, SuperRTL in Germany, ABC in Australia, SVT in Sweden and more. The  show has already gone live in some territories, with further international roll-out scheduled during  Q1 2021.

On a global scale, Brave Bunnies has appointed a portfolio of licensing agents that includes DeAgnostini in Italy, and LaPanaderia, the master agent for the property in Latin America. Meanwhile, Big Picture Licensing has signed up a roster of leading agents in their respective regions, including CPLG for Benelux, Nordics, CEE, and Southern Europe, CLM for Africa, Centa IP in Australia and New Zealand, and Mediogen in Israel.

Brave Bunnies licensed products are set to roll out from Easter 2022, with Spin Master leading the charge as the property’s global master toy licensee. The firm will develop a range of pre-school toys based on the series. On top of this, Big Picture Licensing has signed up Penguin Random House as a strategic multi-territory licensee, joining Planeta Libra as publishing partners.

Brave Bunnies has already gone live in some territories, with further international roll-out scheduled for Q1 2021. A complimentary and comprehensive digital content plan is also in development. At MIPCOM last month, Brave Bunnies was the second most viewed show in the MIP Junior Screenings  Library (and number one in its preschool target-demo), and unsurprisingly interest is brewing in the licensing  arena.

Sergey Molchanov, CEO at Glowberry, said: “We have taken a lot of care to ensure that Brave Bunnies has received the best quality treatment from the off, and we are delighted to maintain that  standard across our key commercial partner appointments.

“We’re grateful for the support and the  broad positive response to our property, and we’re just getting started.”

Dan Frugtniet, MD at Big Picture Licensing, added: “We’re extremely proud and excited to be  working with Glowberry on this wonderful property, and delighted, but not at all surprised at the strong start – without exception, everybody who we have showed Brave Bunnies to has been  overwhelmingly positive about it.

“As well as finalising APAC agency appointments, we’re now  looking to secure UK licensing partners in all major product categories. Please get in touch to discuss  how you can hop on the Brave Bunny Bus.”
