Aardman’s Shaun the Sheep Land has helped Sweden’s Skanes Djurpark to a record number of visitors this season.
125,000 fans and tourists from across the globe have visited the park since its opening in March this year, with 10,000 season tickets sold to date.
According to the firm, new attractions such as the Shaun the Sheep Land and a new Water Playground have contributed to what the park believes will be a ‘record year.’
“We have enjoyed a great season with many visitors. The inauguration of Shaun the Sheep Land in June, and the new tractor track, have helped make this a unique year for Skånes Djurpark, said Kasper Schumacher, managing director of Skanes Djurpark.
"We are overwhelmed by the positive comments we have received from the visitors concerning the staff and the entire visitor experience. Our animal handlers and other staff are central to the enjoyment of a visit to our park. We know that their effort of bringing visitors and animals into closer contact, and the sharing of their vast knowledge is highly appreciated."
Sean Clarke, Head of Rights and Brand Development, Aardman added: “We are delighted that Shaun’s presence at Skånes has had such a huge impact on visitor numbers and are looking to replicate this success with other partners around the world.
"We are working on a number of new and exciting concepts and the team will be attending IAAPA Europe in Barcelona at the end of next month to discuss opportunities further.”
The new attractions Shaun the Sheep Land and the Kids’ Farm have also played a part in increasing visitors stay time at the park and according to Aardman, children and adults alike have ‘enjoyed greeting and giving a hug to Shaun the Sheep’, while almost 100,000 visitors have had a go at driving on the new tractor course.
