Penguin opens Snowdogs trail in Cardiff

Penguin Random House has opened a third Snowdogs trail in Cardiff, in support of children’s hospice charity Ty Hafan.

Inspired by the animated film, The Snowman and The Snowdog, Wild in Art has teamed with Penguin to launch more than 40 1.5m tall sculptures, which been placed at some of South Wales’ most iconic locations to form a 10-week trail.

Each new sculpture has been designed and named by an artist, before being sponsored by a local business to help raise money for the charity.

“We’re thrilled that our first Snowdog Art Trail in Wales has transformed its capital city into an open-air gallery,” said Charlie Langhorne, director of Wild in Art.

“We hope our award-winning formula inspires people of all ages to get out and about to discover the magical stories behind the Snowdogs and that they raise lots of smiles, as well as lots of funds for Ty Hafan.”

This news follows the success of Brighton’s trail, Snowdogs by the Sea, which has recently received Best Event in the City 2016 at the Brighton and Hove Business Award.

Susan Bolsover, head of licensing and consumer products for Penguin Random House, added: “Snowdogs by the Sea was the culmination of months of hard work, commitment and passion shown by many individuals and partners and we are thrilled for the recognition that this award offers.

“The trail has had an overwhelmingly positive affect on families and businesses in Brighton, and of course for The Martlets Hospice who were able to secure much needed funds to ensure they can continue their amazing work. We are incredibly proud to have been a part of it.”
