Michael O’Mara Books partners with official charts company for music quiz book as the UK’s official singles chart turns 70.

Michael O’Mara Books has secured the rights via licensing agency The Point 1888 to partner with the Official Charts Company to publish an Official Charts music quiz book, celebrating 70 years since the UK’s first singles chart was published.

Ross Hamilton, commissioning editor at Michael O’Mara Books, said: “The Official Charts have been synonymous with British pop culture for 70 years, and we’re delighted to help celebrate this incredible milestone with their first official music quiz book.”

The Official Charts’ Music Quiz Book: Put Your Chart Music Knowledge to the Test by Lee Thompson is compiled using the Official Charts Company’s definitive music database and will test readers’ knowledge of seven decades of music history, from the most successful artists of all time to one-hit wonders and everything in between. It will be published on 27th October 2022 in paperback and will make for a fun Christmas present or stocking filler.

Featuring a foreword by Jack Saunders, the new host of BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart Show, the book contains hundreds of quizzes dedicated to specific genres, artists, Christmas number ones and more, and is packed with challenges for pop music lovers and chart nerds alike.

Martin Talbot, chief executive of Official Charts, commented: “Over seven decades, the Official Singles Chart has been an endless source of trivia and fun facts, so we are delighted to mark the 70th anniversary with this fantastic quiz book, part of a new partnership with Michael O’Mara Books. There is no doubt that this quiz book (including questions set by quizmaster extraordinaire Lee Thompson) will help music and chart lovers while away hours upon hours this autumn.”

“We’re so excited to launch our licensing programme for Official Chart Company with this quiz book. It’s an absolute must have purchase for music and chart fans,” added Katie Wilkinson, head of Publishing & Operations at The Point.1888
