Moonbug to launch second season of Mia’s Magic Playground

Published on: 26th September 2022

Moonbug Entertainment will launch the new episodes of popular pre-school series Mia’s Magic Playground with Sky UK and Viaplay.

Moonbug Entertainment has announced that it will launch season two of Mia’s Magic Playground exclusively on all Sky platforms in the UK later this year. The series will be co-produced by Moonbug Entertainment, a subsidiary of Candle Media, and Sky UK and will be available on all Sky platforms including Sky Q, Sky Glass, the Sky Kids App and streaming service Now.

Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) continues its engagement in the show by pre-buying the new season exclusively for its Viaplay streaming service in the Nordic and Baltic countries, Poland and the Netherlands, where it will be available with local dubbing.

Mia’s Magic Playground is a whimsical show for 2-5 year olds about Mia and her two best friends Oscar and Tilly. Together they go on adventures in a magical world to learn important lessons they can later apply in the real world. Families across the UK and in Viaplay’s markets will be the first to access all 24 episodes in late 2022.

“We are thrilled to be in partnership with Sky on this new season, which will bring back all the great characters and worlds of Season 1, and add all-new characters along with new songs,” said Nicolas Eglau, managing director EMEA & APAC at Moonbug.

The first season of Mia’s Magic Playground experienced great success on Sky and Viaplay and has also launched on additional platforms globally such as HBO Max US and Latam, Netflix India, Okko in Russia, Blu TV in Turkey, Mediaset Italy and more. WarnerMedia also continues its engagement in the show by pre-buying season two for HBO Max and Cartoon Network in the US, Central and Latin America.

“As we continue to provide more access to content around the world, it is essential to provide content to families that encourage children to learn and grow,” said Nicolas Eglau. “We look forward to deepening our already strong relationship with Sky, with ambitions to turn Mia’s Magic Playground into a global brand that families love. We look forward to developing additional seasons in the future.”

Lucy Murphy, director of Sky Kids, added: “We are thrilled to be working with Moonbug on more episodes of the delightful Mia’s Magic Playground. This colourful, magical show has already proven to be a hit with Sky customers who will be excited to encounter more adventures with Mia and her real and imaginary friends.”
