Maurizio Distefano Licensing secures Italian partners for Angry Birds

Licensing group Maurizio Distefano Licensing has announced the first deals for Angry Birds products in the Italian market.

The game is set to reach screens worldwide as a film in May, and various licensing categories have already been snapped up, including confectionary, gifts, kitchenware and accessories.

The line-up so far includes the likes of stationery specialist Accademia, who will develop handbags, wallets, picture frames, greeting cards and diaries, while paper goods will come from WorldCart, which will include handkerchiefs and napkins.

Umbrellas and raincoats will come from Perletti, while chocolate and lollipops will come from Modecor.

Maurizio Distefano, founder and director of MD Licensing, said: “Interest in the Angry Birds franchise has always been strong in Italy, but with the announcement of the new film it has reached new heights.

“We are delighted to have signed so many best-in-class licensees already and are looking forward to announcing even more very soon.”

Other announcements expected will feature toys, games, apparel, plush, backpacks and more.
