Slovakian company Comunique is producing the first ice show based on the popular Russian animated series.

Masha and the Bear takes to the ice

Russian animation Masha and the Bear is hitting the ice rink with an ambitious new ice show scheduled for 2015.

The new dancing ice show is the work of Slovakian company Comunique and will initially tour Slovakia and the Czech Republic before heading to other EU countries.

In the partnership between the company and Ink Global, the new show will combine dance and figure skating with 3D projection to offer an interactive experience for families.

Comunique is now the latest licensee to join a burgeoning portfolio of partners, with more than one hundred licensees across the Russian market, boasting ranges of branded puzzles, confectionery, home decorations, toys and fashion.

“Masha and the Bear isn’t your average kids’ brand and this isn’t your average ice show,” said Ink Global director, Claus Tømming.

“Comunique is planning something new and innovative that represents a break from the norm and this very much reflects what we are trying to do with Masha and the Bear, as well as all the other brands we represent at Ink Global.”

Masha and the Bear is the work of leading Russina animation studio, Animaccord and brings the old Russian fairy tale of a little girl held captive by a bear up to date.

Now, the series follows the quick-witted Masha who is determined to spend as much time as possible with a bear, her reluctant playmate.

The show now airs on nearly 100 broadcasters across the globe.
