Batman and Superman to star for the first time on the big screen.

Is this the ultimate super hero movie?

One of the most high profile pieces of news to come out of Comic-Con is that Batman and Superman will appear together on the big screen for the first time.

The news was revealed by Greg Silverman, president, creative development and worldwide production, and Sue Kroll, president, worldwide marketing and international distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

Zack Snyder, the director of recent Superman smash Man of Steel, is co-writing the story along with David Goyer, who will then pen the screenplay.

Production is expected to begin in 2014, with an anticipated release date of summer 2015.

Henry Cavill will return as Superman, while Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane will all star. Batman has yet to be cast.

Diane Nelson, president of DC Entertainment, said: "Superman and Batman together on the big screen is a dream come true for DC fans everywhere. All of us at DC Entertainment could not be more excited for Zack [Snyder’s] continuing vision for the DC Universe."
