Fox Consumer Products unveils brace of live shows

20th Century Fox Consumer Products has teamed up with Iconic Entertainment to bring two of its popular film franchises to the live stage.

The Alvin and the Chipmunks live show is projected to open in early spring 2015, while a Rio live show will follow in winter 2016 touring in cities around the world.

The new shows will supplement FCP’s larger global location-based entertainment strategy and join Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure. Currently in the second year of a five-year global plan, the show combines ice skating, aerial arts, puppetry and film.

Alvin and the Chipmunks will be centred on the Chipmunks and Chipettes, the animated music groups from the film franchise, while for the Rio live show, the exotic scenery and vibrant energy of Rio de Janeiro will serve as the backdrop for a high flying musical spectacular featuring Blu, Jewel and the rest of the Rio gang.

Michael Cohl, president of Iconic Entertainment, added: "Our aim is to create live events with the production values of a blockbuster movie, and the emotional connection of the theatre and the concert experience."
