Amscan appoints new COO to support growth strategy

In his new role at party product company Amscan International, Neil Weaver will support the development of global operations.

Amscan International has appointed a new chief operations officer (COO) to support the ongoing growth and development of the company.

Neil Weaver joins the Milton Keynes-based designer, manufacturer, distributor, wholesaler and retailer of party products from fashion and homewares retailer Cath Kidston. Whilst at the company, he held the position of sourcing, supply chain and IT director.

In his new role, Neil will support the development of Amscan International’s global operations and ultimately be responsible for the end-to-end supply chain at board level after a phased transition.

Commenting on his appointment, Neil said: “Amscan International’s vertically integrated structure and supply chain strength is one of its key differentiating factors, which is testament to the capability of the company’s team and infrastructure.

“I look forward to further developing our supply chain operations to not only best serve our customers, but also help position Amscan International as the celebrations products market leader.”

Neil began his career as an engineer in manufacturing, before developing his supply chain experience within planning, sourcing, procurement and warehousing & logistics. Prior to Cath Kidston, he has worked for personal healthcare products and consumer goods manufacturer PZ Cussons and Pentland Brands.

Amscan International chief executive, Joe Hennigan, said: “Neil is a strong business leader who brings with him expertise across multiple sectors, consumer product categories and brands in many territories.He has a strong track record of delivering commercial value to businesses and achieving strong returns on investment.”

He added: “We are very pleased to welcome Neil into the business. He will be a huge asset across the entire Amscan International group to support our ongoing growth ambitions.”

In addition to Milton Keynes, Amscan International has offices in Ireland, Germany, Australasia and Asia. The company employs around 2,500 people worldwide and its retail brands include Party Delights, the UK’s largest online party store, Ginger Ray and several other brands across 15 countries.

The company recently announced a turnover in excess of £300m following the acquisition of the Sweden-headquartered online retailer Party King for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition supports Amscan International’s worldwide growth plans by further expanding into the Nordics.
