20th Century Fox outlines raft of Rio 2 partners

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products has detailed the expansive list of partners on board to create lines for the upcoming Fox Animation Studios sequel, Rio 2.

More than 100 licensees worldwide are on board, including Jakks Pacific toys, H&M, Hallmark gifts, Rovio Entertainment and Angry Birds, DecoPak decorations, HarperCollins Publishers, Titan Books and Cupcake Digital.

“The Rio brand has grown immensely in global appeal, and as we celebrate the sequel of the beloved animated film, we are thrilled to introduce new partnerships worldwide with a wide variety of best-in-class brands,” said Jeffrey Godsick, president of Fox Consumer Products.

“From unique toys to magnificent books, we are thrilled to bring Blu, Jewel and the rest of the flock into homes around the world as we roll out these new products leading up to the theatrical release of Rio 2 and beyond.”

Jakks Pacific’s Rio 2 range spans musical plush, figures, bulk toy and novelty items available at retailers nationwide now.

Elsewhere, H&M has signed for children’s apparel and accessories soon available in stores worldwide and Rovio will be releasing Angry Birds Rio merchandise.

Five movie tie-in books are available from HarperCollins and Titan Books has The Art of Rio in stores now.

Cupcake Digital has developed the Rio storybook app, based on the first film,and the official app for Rio 2 will be available from April 1st.

Hallmark has greeting cards, stationery, ornaments and gifts available in the US, while DecoPak is creating a line of cake decorating kits, cake toppers and candles to be released in the US and Canada in bakeries, Kmart, Walmart, Target and more.

Bath accessories and bedding will soon be available from Jay Franco & Sons Inc and a range of Rio 2 sleepwear, sportswear and swimwear will soon be available in Old Navy, specialty stores and department stores in the US and China.

Mashon Inc has a range of apparel, electronic, home and bath items and accessories soon available worldwide, and visitors to San Diego Zoo can see a new Rio Rainforest Adventure 4-D attraction courtesy of SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment.

Elsewhere, in Asia Pacific, Richprime Global will be launching apparel, bags, accessories, footwear, inflatable toys and more by the end of March and will be available in all Toy Kingdom and SM Department Stores nationwide in the Philippines. 

Richprime will also have new merchandise available in all leading department stores in Thailand and Indonesia as of April.

In Europe, further partners include C&A International for children’s clothing, Pez for candy dispensers, Smith & Brooks for outerwear, Aykroyds for nightwear and Next, Asda, Tesco and Primark for clothing.

Russia partners include 15 licensees across the core categories: toys, apparel, stationery, homewares, food & beverage, health and beauty.

In Latin America, Grow has signed for vinyl dolls and board games, BBR for plush, Ri-Happy and PBKids in Brazil for toys and Ripley Department Stores in Chile, Peru and Colombia for toys, apparel and home décor.
