Holland’s popular Miffy Museum is undergoing a major restructuring thanks to the injection of €2 million into the tourist destination.
Donations to the Centraal Museum in Utrecht have been made by Mercis BV, the outfit established to look after all business affairs of Dick Bruna, the creator of Miffy, and the BankGiro Lottery.
Each has donated €1 million to a project that will expand the Miffy Museum space by 500 square meters, opening up more exhibitions space, a larger cloakroom and facility for families to park buggies as well as improve visitor signposting.
The aim is to enable the museum to welcome more children and families to the exhibition.
According to Marco Grob, managing director at the Miffy Museum, ever since its opening in 2016, the museum for toddlers has surpassed all expectations.
‘The Miffy Museum is very successful, it is often filled to capacity,” he said. “That’s why we are so pleased that Mercis BV and the BankGiro Lottry have chosen to support us once again, so that we can expand the museum.
“The restructure will enable us to accommodate even more visitors, as well as provide a Miffy theatre space and on-site restaurant.”
