Paramount and Hasbro tap Ready Player One’s Zak Penn for ROM: Spaceknight movie

Paramount and Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures have tapped Ready Player One scribe, Zak Penn for a big screen adaptation of ROM: Spaceknight.

Penn will turn the ROM toy-turned-comic book universe into a movie for the studios.

It is the latest step in a five year deal between Hasbro and Paramount as the pair collaborate on live-action and animated films based on Hasbro’s iconic toy lines. The two earlier partnered on five Transformers movies, as well as two GI Joe films and the first Transformers spin-off, Bumblebee.

Hasbro also hired Greg Mooradian as president of Allspark Pictures to oversee live-action film and TV production.

ROM: Spaceknight was originally an action figure toy created by Parker Brothers before becoming part of a comic book universe that features an extraterrestrial species known as Dire Wraiths.
