Cartoon Network greenlights second series for The Powerpuff Girls

A second season of the hit animation The Powerpuff Girls is on the way, Cartoon Network has revealed.

Since the series premiere kicked off in April, the show has had over 81 million worldwide fans experiencing it across multiple platforms.

“The Powerpuff Girls is on a momentous run with its first Emmy nod, a debut appearance at one of the biggest fan events of the year, and now a second season greenlight,” said Rob Sorcher, chief content officer for Cartoon Network.

“Congratulations to the Cartoon Network creative teams who have super-powered this property with the perfect amount of Chemical X to bring a hit show for a new generation of fans.”

Plus, the brand’s Powerpuff Yourself avatar has also proved a success, giving 12 million fans the ability to see themselves as a real Townsville superhero, while the series also picked up its first Emmy nomination this year for Outstanding Short Form Animated Program.
