Universal secures Posh Paws as plush partner for Minions and Despicable Me franchises

Posh Paws has signed a deal with Universal to become the EMEA plush partner for the Minions and Despicable Me franchises.

The two year deal comes just ahead of Despicable Me 3, the latest instalment from Illumination that is expected to hit cinemas in summer 2017.

Posh Paws will deliver a limited range from the back catalogue of Minions and Despicable Me characters for this autumn/winter, with a bigger emphasis placed on specific development for Despicable Me 3.

The contract includes the rights to supply their plush range across Europe, Middle East and Asia and as result the company has a whole host of distributors across these regions already on board.

“Minions have been one of the hottest merchandise properties for the last few years and topping NPD charts," said Lauren Shipman, brand manager at Posh Paws. "We’ve already seen huge success with our Minions and Despicable Me backpack ranges, so it goes without saying that we are thrilled to now become the EMEA plush licensee for the brand.

“The most exciting part for me about the brand is working on the new characters that will be coming through in the new movie. We also know that some of our favourites from the Despicable Me films are expecting to make a return to our screens, which is great as we continue to do well with the likes of Despicable Me characters Agnes and Fluffy the Unicorn outside of the movie year.

“In the meantime, we look forward to working with our retail partners on our current Minions and Unicorn collection that launches July this year. We’re also excited about what’s to come next year and will be working with retailers to jointly maximise the opportunities in line with the 2017 movie release.”
