Aardman Studios has produced a new online game for Cartoon Network Studios’ award winning series, Regular Show.
Extending the popular children’s animation, Turner commissioned the studio behind Shaun the Sheep to create the online racing game, Cupcakes of Doom.
Featuring Regular Show characters Mordecai, Rigby and Skips, the game encourages fans to defeat the evil Klorgbane before the world becomes corrupted by his powers. It has already launched on the Cartoon Network website across the US.
With five levels to progress through, players must collect coins and power ups in order to battle the final boss while defeating villains along the way.
Laura Chilcott, senior digital producer at Aardman, said: "We’re huge Regular Show fans here, so being able to work with Cartoon Network Digital’s wonderful writers to create a brand new story for the game was a real honour for us.
"Creating the game in Unity before exporting to flash allowed us to create a really different looking game, which has a surreal level of depth appropriate for the brand.
"It was a real pleasure to work with Cartoon Network on this game, and it’s been worth all the hard work seeing the fantastic comments coming back from the kids who are playing the game on the Cartoon Network site."
Regular Show won a Primetime Emmy Award in 2012 for Outstanding Short-format Animated Programme as well as a 2012 Ottawa Intl. Animation Festival Best Television Animation Made For Children.
In addition, the show was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Television Series.
