Fans of hit US sitcom Friends now have the chance to hang out in their own Central Perk – with replica versions of the coffee shops opening in the UK.
With the 20th anniversary of the show approaching, the branded shops are attracting fans in Liverpool and Chester.
Developed in partnership with licensees KAR Liverpool and KAR Chester, the Central Perk coffee shops are true replicas of what became the defining location throughout ten seasons of Friends.
Food is made on site and take away coffee is served in Friends-branded paper cups. The cafés also host live acts, open mic nights and book clubs, while Friends merchandise such as DVDs, mugs and t-shirts are available.
"The cameras may have stopped rolling a decade ago but Friends continues to attract legions of new fans through consistent television broadcast, and original fans are as loyal to the brand as they ever were," said Paul Bufton, general manager, WBCP UK.
"As we approach the 20th anniversary of the show, Friends will be back in the spotlight and the popularity of the Central Perk coffee shops will accelerate further as the destination social hub for Friends fans who want to literally consume the Friends brand."
Kane Russell, MD of KAR, added: "The appeal of Central Perk stretches beyond the local communities in Liverpool and Chester and the cafés are becoming a destination for Friends fans right across the UK."
