The first Downton Abbey jewellery will arrive in the US.
1928 Jewelry Company has been granted the licence to produce necklaces, bracelets, earrings, brooches, rings, hair jewellery, men’s cufflinks and more based on the popular TV show from NBC Universal.
The deal was brokered by Knockout Licensing – the agency managing the Downton Abbey licensing program in North America.
“Knowing the style and quality of 1928 Jewelry, we reached out to them as an ideal licensee for Downton Abbey jewellery,” said Knockout Licensing Co-President Tamra Knepfer.
“So naturally we were thrilled but not necessarily surprised to find they were also huge fans of the show. It was a perfect match.”
1928 Jewelry is working closely with Downton Abbey’s costume design team to create the licensed contemporary jewellery.
Founded by Mel Bernie in 1968 and based in California, the 1928 Jewelry Company specialises in vintage inspired fashion jewellery, gifts and accessories.
Knockout Licensing is seeking additional licensing partners for such product categories as home furnishings, including home décor and bedding, kitchen accessories, lighting, timepieces, tableware and formal attire.
NBC Universal estimates over 120 million viewers have watched the show at some point.
